I have a tight work schedule this week so I had to double feature The Weather Man and The Ant Bully in order to stay on schedule, it was a looooong night of Cagin’. I might have to double feature again this weekend too. Damn adult life, getting in the way of my Cage movies! But I can’t complain too much, Alexa got way off schedule after a weekend vacation and had a few days of triple feature, but she’s back on track now.
The only other Cage animation we’ve seen so far has been A Christmas Carol, and it was such a disappointment because Cage was only in it briefly. Here we finally got to hear Cage’s voice as a leading character, so it was a real special treat and a nice change of pace.
Cage played a wizard ant who is teaching an asshole little kid a lesson in destroying ant colonies by shrinking him down to ant size and making him live among them. Co-stars were Paul Giamatti and Julia Roberts, so this wasn’t a ho hum little production, there was some big time Hollywood action up in here! We also got a little cameo from Meryl Streep, who played the queen ant. And the animation of the queen was some serious acid trip alien shit:
Whoooooooa. Wanna see what Cage looks like as an ant? Here ya go:
You all know how great it is to watch a kids movie, so there really isn’t anything novel for me to remark on. It was The Ant Bully, it was a real pleasure, and I am about to watch The Wicker Man next which I have heard craaazy things about! Let’s press on!
