Day 32: Christmas Carol The Movie

We made it!!!! 35/70 movies!! HALF WAY!!!!

And boy oh boy was Christmas Carol The Movie a real special treat! Christmas came early this year! I know this Dicken’s classic pretty much backwards and forwards (for a jewish girl). At least I thought I was familiar with the story until I mentioned to my new neighbor that I was watching this, and he claimed to be a bonafide “Christmas Carol fan”. As in, he’s seen most versions of it, read the book, and owns 4 copies on DVD. Respect.

He said that he had never seen this particular version of Christmas Carol. When I texted him and told him that this one seemed like the real deal, his response was that it looked far too cheery, and that Christmas Carol is supposed to be a creepy ghost story. So ya heard it from an expert, this Christmas Carol missed the mark!

This movie was a pretty shittely animated one. It looked like it was an attempt to be artistic, but I think I’m too used to the pixars and disneys of the world to really appreciate it.

I was super pumped when I saw that Cage got an “and” billing. Usually when he gets an “and” billing shit gets weird in a good way (Deadfall for example). The only bummer is that Cage was hardly in it. He played Jacob Marley, and I’ve gotta admit, the drawing almost looked like him.

I was on pins and needles waiting to figure out which character was going to be Cage, and when he came on I recognized that voice from a mile away. What can I say? I’m a Cage expert…

All of the voice actors had some legit British dialects, except of course for my buddy Cage. He’s not about that bullshit part of acting!

This movie definitely started to get all sorts of Christmas trippy, I quickly realized I wasn’t on nearly enough drugs to understand the meaning of this Christmas tale. This was some serious bah-humbug on acid business:

Aaaaaaand we are moving right along! Next up is Windtalkers!
