Day 3: Racing with the Moon

THE FILM

Racing with the Moon: a sweet tale about a Sean Penn and a Nic Cage who are going  to be shipped off to WWII, and their attempts to get some ass before they go. You get some bar fights, you get some abortions, and you even get a shot of that weirdo Crispin Glover as a preppy rich kid!

While Sean Penn was definitely the lead in this film, it was all of the bad boy Cage rage that really peaked my interest! Between punk rock Cage in Valley Girl, gangster Cage in Rumble Fish, and now angsty Cage in Racing with the Moon, I’m beginning to think he launched his career on being a naughty teen! I had previously mentioned in my Valley Girl recap that it was Cage’s only opportunity to pull of being a heartthrob, but he really busted out his dreamy boy eyes for this role. I stand corrected!

We had one awesome Cage flip out in this film, too:

FLIP OUT TALLY: 3

On a side note: I have noticed that 4 out 4 Nic Cage movies so far have had bare boob shots. Ahhhh the eighties….

MY MENTAL STATE

I’m yet to be punished by a garbage Cage film yet, so I’m doing great still! This week has been awesome, but I am really counting down to the Raising Arizona/Moonstruck back to back coming next week. I am actually considering double featuring that day for fun.
Next up is The Cotton Club!!
