This movie is the shit!! I was already a big fan of Blue Velvet, so I knew David Lynch was going to weird me out in the best way possible. Off the bat, things that I really appreciated were the fact that Cage was playing a character that was basically Elvis, but he seemed to really love heavy metal and butt rock, and would dance to it often in his snake skin jacket, which represents a symbol of his individuality and his belief in personal freedom.
It is apparently well known that Cage is a devout fan of Elvis Presley, so you can imagine how stoked he was to play this role. He even had two scenes where he performs Love me Tender and my personal favorite Elvis Song, Love Me.
This dude loves him some Elvis so much that he went off and married Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie. They got married in August of 2002 and divorced in November of 2002, and supposedly the divorce proceeding lasted longer than their actual marriage!
Let’s just talk about Laura Dern for a second here. Most people who know me know that Jurassic Park is one of my top five favorite movies, so seeing young hot Laura Dern was a real special treat for me. I wasn’t used to seeing her play a bad girl, naughty Dern!!
My absolute favorite scenes we the moments when Cage and Dern were riding in the car listening to music. Like this one:
But the clip I found myself watching over and over and over again was this one, and I would even go so far as to call this a Cage Flip Out!!

And lastly, this guy’s gangster boss character was just great. He always has topless women around him, even when he’s taking a dump. Now that’s what I call making it in this world!
